Panel Discussion on Rights-Based Health Frameworks

The O’Neill Institute’s Global Health Policy and Politics Initiative, Aidsfonds, and Love Alliance join for an expert panel discussion on what the draft declarations for TB, Universal Health Coverage, and PPR, got right, and where they falls short in affirming the right to health.

On September 13, 2023, the Language Compendium team organized a virtual panel titled “Where Might Falls Short of Right: The UN High-Level Draft Declarations and a Rights-Based Framework for Health.” The discussion focused on the gaps in the current draft declarations for UHC, TB, and pandemic preparedness, particularly regarding the absence of rights-affirming language and concrete commitments to support vulnerable populations. Luis Gil Abinader from the O’Neil Institute made a presentation about the UN political declaration on Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The panel underscored the importance of maintaining a rights-based approach in global health policies.
